Tinplate Company of India Ltd, an associate of Tata Steel is the manufacturer of Double Reduced Tinplate Sheets.
The Double Reduced Tinplate Sheets is normally thinner but stronger than conventional Single Reduced material. After an initial cold reduction and annealing instead of temper rolling, the steel is given a second cold reduction with lubrication, which gives work hardening effect and imparts additional strength to Double Reduced material.
The Double Reduced Tinplate Sheets are applicable for Baby Food, Milk Powder, Coffee Tins and oil cans.

- The Double Reduced Tinplate Sheet is a combination of higher strength and sufficient ductility which enables much thinner tinplate.
- According to the steel chemistry and annealing process, the second reduction can be between 30% and 40%, thereby producing strengths up to 700 N/mm2, whereas single reduced material has strength less than 450 N/mm2.
