For users of the E4 energy chain series, Cologne-based igus has developed a new version for long travels. With the gliding surface enlarged by up to 70% and a wear allowance of 150%, the service life of the energy chains has now been increased by a factor of 4 even under extreme conditions. The optimised surface geometry and the spring-loaded arrangement of the sliding elements ensure extremely smooth running. The enlarged gliding surfaces and the opening links are cast in one piece. This makes it very diffecult for the crossbars to be lost, even under the toughest of conditions. The chain can still be snapped open at both sides for quick and easy line checks and replacement if necessary. No additional assembly material and tools are necessary for installation of the "extreme gliders". At the end of the maximum service life, the crossbar is simply replaced and the chain`s "second life" begins. The new "extreme gliders" are designed especially for applications in very dirty areas or where very high filling weights are involved, such as in cranes, mining, power stations or steelworks.
