It is used for the extraction of essential oils from flowers.It meets the BIS specification IS:3470-1966.Its main feautures are:

It has a very narrow boiling range of 63-70OC

Chemically stable and incompatible with strong oxidizers

Inhalation causes irritation of respiratory tract may lead to cough, mild depression, and cardiac arrhythmia

Ingestion may lead to nausea, vomiting, swelling of abdomen, headache and depression.

Skin and eye contact causes irritation.
