Product Profile of Magnetic Proximity Sensors
SICK - one of the world`s leading producers of sensors and sensor solutions for industrial applications. SICK is a technology and market leader in both Factory Automation and Process Automation. The sick product range includes Magnetic Proximity Sensors.
Magnetic proximity sensors are characterized by the possibility of large switching distances, available from sensors with small dimensions. They detect magnetic objects [usually permanent magnets] which are used to trigger the switching process.
As the magnetic fields are able to pass through many non-magnetic materials, the switching process can also be triggered without the need for direct exposure to the target object. By using magnetic conductors [e.g. iron], the magnetic field can be transmitted over greater distances so that, for example, the signal can be carried away from high temperature areas.
Magnetic sensors have a broad range of applications. For example:
Object detection through plastic containers/pipes
Object detection in aggressive media through protective
Teflon walls
Object detection in high-temperature areas
Pig technology
Recognition of coding using magnets
Refers to devices embedded in non-magnetic materials with magnet M 4.0 [see accessories]
