Product Profile of Self-priming Pumps
PolyQuip offers Self-priming Pumps. A normal centrifugal pump cannot be used for volatile solvents for negative suctions, because foot-valve elastomers give problems and the pump also faces cavitations. Self priming pump removes the above problems, but can be used for clear liquids only. The pump is provided compulsorily with mechanical seal, it does not come with gland packing arrangements. It can take a negative suction pipe length of 3 to 4 metres, without foot valve. Initially, the casing only is to be filled with liquid to avoid damage to the seal due to dry running. Self-priming pump is provided with star vane type impeller and can be used for low capacities only, up to 50 LPM and heads up to 40 metres. It is an ideal pump for underground storage tanks, barrel emptying and other applications. The pump is available in SS, only.
